Samsung Trill is available for $19.99 from U.S. Cellular after $50 mail-in rebate. It has same curvaceous shape like the Trance to resemble resonant of guitar or violin. The Trill phone features 3.5mm headset jack, micro-SD card slot and Bang & Olufsen ICEPower technology based music player. The navigation controls on the phone are crowded and camera’s picture quality is average. The overall call quality was good during test. If you need a budget friendly exciting music phone with 1.3-megapixel camera, then you can purchase – Samsung Trill.
Design
The glossy display is on the front side of Samsung Trill. The navigation array is located beneath the display. Volume rocker, micro-SD card slot and hold key sits on the left spine. You will find the charger jack, speakerphone key and 3.5mm headset jack on the right spine. The camera lens with self portrait mirror is located on the back of front side. You have to slide down the keypad to access the camera.
Display
2.1 inches LCD display of Samsung Trill has a resolution of 176×229 pixels that supports 262,000 colors. The menu interface is unique one. Wallpaper and icons on the phone seems to be earthbound and similar to other phones from U.S. Cellular. You cannot change the menu layout on the phone.
Navigation Array
Samsung Trill has physical navigation array instead of having touch-sensitive controls. It consist a directional pad with center OK key in the middle of two side buttons. Both of the side buttons are divided into three functions. The left button has music player at bottom, message key in middle and soft key at top. The right button has Clear key at bottom, contacts in middle and soft key on top. We would prefer to have separate touch-sensitive buttons for each function.
Keyboard
You have to slide down at the bottom of Samsung Trill phone to access the keypad. The keypad has End/Power key, camera key and Send key on the top. It is flat to the surface, but column and row dividers provide texture for easy text and dial.
Phonebook and PIM features
Samsung Trill can store 1000 contacts in its phone book. The basic feature set includes notepad, world clock, stop watch, calendar, alarm clock, multimedia and text messaging, speakerphone and vibrate mode.
The advanced features of Samsung Trill are GPS support, USB storage mode, stereo Bluetooth, Easyedge wireless browser and voice command support. We disappointed that the phone does not have any mobile-email. You will get advantage of U.S. Cellular GPS navigation application for turn-by-turn directions.
Music Player
Samsung Trill is not compatible at all with online music services, like the Trance. You have to upload the songs through USB cable to Trill’s micro-SD card. Inbuilt music player is based on Bang & Olusfen ICEPower technology. It features impressive interface, good controls, 3D sound and visual elements such as equalizer settings. It also has airplane mode to turn off Wi-Fi and continue listening music.
Camera
Samsung Trill has 1.3-megapixel camera, like the Trance. However, the overall photo quality is better than previous Trance phone. The colors seem muted with orange tinge.
Games and Personalization
Samsung Trill comes with only one game – PAC MAN. You can customize the phone with selection of sounds and graphics. You can also download more options, games and graphics from U.S. Cellular via Easyedge Mobile Store.
Call Quality
We made few calls through Samsung Trill via a roaming partner of U.S. Cellular. The overall call quality was good even we were in roaming. We received clear sound at our end without static. We also received good but not natural sound on speakerphone at our end.
The callers received good sound at their end with some crackle or hiss. When we turned on the speakerphone, they received more loud and clear sound with some harshness at their end.
Music Quality
The overall music quality was stellar and impressive. We were deeply impressed with surround sound and strong bass capabilities of the music player. The music quality was comparable to almost every MP3 player.
Battery Life
Samsung Trill has a battery life of 12.5 days of idle standby time and 4.5 hours of talk time. The digital SAR rating is 1.34 watts per kg as per FCC radiation tests.

Samsung Trill is a great music phone that delivers best music listening experience. If you need a stylish music phone and did not have craze for online streaming paid music, then you can purchase this all new Samsung Trill.
