Cell phone reviews Sprint – Sanyo Taho

thumbnail
Sanyo Taho is four inches long, two inches wide and 0.9 inch deep; I have written a lot of cell phone reviews before and can say that these dimensions are pretty standard for such a phone. The handset is certainly a lot heavier than most phones at 4.7 ounces and it is due to the tough build. It has an industrial feel with the silver and black face, tiny monochrome display and big speaker. The phone doesn’t really look stylish but it has a cool retro feel to it. The external display shows signal strength, battery life, time and there is also a thin light which flashes when there is an incoming call. Hinge of the Sanyo Taho is as sturdy as the shell. Cell phone reviews of this handset says that the flap can be easily closed and opened with one hand but it also snaps firmly in to its place on the either end. On the inside, there is the main screen which is two inches big and has a resolution for 320x240 pixels or support for  [...]

XDA Orbit 2 from O2 – 3 MP camera but no flash

thumbnail
XDA Orbit 2 from O2 is a rebranded version of HTC Cruise; it is great smartphone running on Windows Mobile 6 Professional. Also, this phone is successor to original Orbit, which was the first XDA handset to have GPS built-in. It has been a while after that and GPS technology on a cell phone is not really appealing now but some people still like it. This phone is available for free provided you sign a contract with the service provider. XDA Orbit 2 combines the style of HTC Touch and the first Orbit. The XDA Orbit 2 is certainly better than its predecessor. There is a futuristic appeal to it and doesn’t have those typical looks of a boring business phone. The display is 2.8 inches big and viewing content on the phone is really enjoyable. The big screen is complemented by big soft and navigation keys which are easy to press. The four-way, circular  [...]

Motorola ROKR E6 – With business card reader

thumbnail
Motorola ROKR E6 is a big touchscreen based phone and it is somewhere between mid range candy bar style phone and full smartphone with dimensions of 111mm by 51.5mm by 14.5mm. The weight of the handset is 122 grams which is not really that much. Motorola is trying to please both business and multimedia users with the phone as it has included best of both worlds. After reviewing the phone, I must say that the manufacturer has done well to achieve it. Below the display, there is a five way selection button with 4 application keys including the standard call/hang up options. On the top, there is a 3.5 mm headphones jack which is nice and you can put any standard headphones on the device for grooving to music. Motorola ROKR E6 is a tri-band phone and there is no HSDPA or 3G. This will certainly disappoint smartphone enthusiasts  [...]

Samsung i7410 – Built-in projector!

thumbnail
Samsung is keeping things under its hats with finer details of the Samsung i7410 which is the latest phone from this manufacturer. But one thing that we can say for sure is that it is a great phone with a projector built in. Through this, you can project video clips, photos and images on a screen or wall. This is really fantastic. You can display content up to a maximum of 50 inches in size and it is like watching a 50 inch TV that you’d use in conference and board meetings for your presentation displays. This means that you can get things going even if you have left your notebook computer at home. We don’t know much about the phone because Samsung is pretty coy over revealing the details and hence we cannot tell you anything about the image quality. Samsung i7410 is a very stylish and sleek looking mobile phone having 3.2 inches touch screen which gives a resolution of 240x400 pixels and has support for 262k colors. Images on the screen look  [...]

Mobile phone reviews – How I write them

thumbnail
Writing mobile phone review for tech enthusiasts like us is a great thing to do. It takes about three to four days for me to write the review and this is because I spend a lot of time testing the phone. A lot of you guys have asked me about how I write mobile phone reviews so I decided to blog about it here. The first thing that I write about is the looks. This is very important for every mobile phone reviews. First impression is the last impression and hence it is really important that the phone looks beautiful. I like the look of the iPhone, there is no clutter of buttons; you just get a single home key in the middle and everything else is controlled by the touch screen. Some people don’t like glossy bodies especially the hygiene freaks because glossy shells attract a lot of fingerprints and make the phone look ugly. Next, I look at the screen while writing my mobile phone reviews. The display should be bright enough and the resolution  [...]

Wireless phones review – LG Apex (U.S. Cellular)

thumbnail
Compared to the other wireless phones having slider QWERTY interface like Samsung Epic 4G and T-Mobile G2, the Apex is quite compact. It is 0.62 inch thick, 2.22 inches wide, 4.57 inches high and the weight is about 5.4 ounces. This handset is not as wide as other wireless phones and hence it feels more comfortable to hold in the hand. Also, the LG Apex is far from a thin phone but I could still easily put it in my pants pocket without any problems. The cell phone is well constructed and on the back, there is a soft touch nice finish. The trade-off on the trim design of such wireless phones is the small display. LG Apex US Cellular has just a 3.2 inch capacitive touch screen as compared to the 4 inch and 3.7 inch screens of Epic 4G and G2 respectively. On the bright side, the screen supports 242,000 colors and it has a resolution of 800x480 pixels. The screen is very bright and crisp so I don’t think that  [...]

Pantech Duo C810 – With QWERTY keyboard and numeric keypad

thumbnail
Pantech Duo C810 is named so because of the dual slider design. The phone is quite similar to Helio Ocean. Slide the phone up vertically and you will see a numeric dialpad, sliding it down will reveal a full QWERTY keyboard. The keyboard and the keypad are on separate layers which means that you both cannot be kept open at the same time. This is the main difference between Pantech Duo C810 and Helio Ocean. Also, Duo is a bit smaller than the other phone at 4.02x1.97x0.83 inches and it is also lighter at 3.88 ounces. Ocean weighed 5.6 ounces. Pantech Duo C810 is bulky because of the triple layers and I found it hard to squeeze the device in my pants pocket. Pantech Duo C810 has chintzy plastic shell which makes the device look like a toy. The gray dull finish on the exterior attracts a lot of fingerprints easily and the screen border makes the handset look old. Also, the QWERTY keyboard’s sliding mechanism feels loose and flimsy.

Sony Ericsson W350i – no WMA support

thumbnail
Sony Ericsson W350i is an entry level Walkman phone having a retro look and candy bar form factor. The phone looks retro thanks to the flip design of the phone which is seldom seen these days. Inside, there is a glossy keypad which is easy to use and has a smooth and fairly large buttons. When you close the phone, the keypad is concealed and the exterior has dedicated buttons for the Walkman which makes the device look a lot like Sony MP3 player. The flip panel design of the Sony Ericsson W350i is good but I thought it was a bit flimsy because it bent easily when I tried to twist it. Maybe it is because the of the slim profile of the phone; it is just 11 mm thick. Apart from this, the phone is reasonably rugged and will certainly survive accidental drops. Sony Ericsson W350i is a nice phone to use too, it is lightweight, ergonomic and has an attractive finish. The screen is small and has a 176x220 pixels resolution.  [...]
