Sony Ericsson K660i – Basic mid range phone for children

thumbnail
Sony Ericsson K660i is a mid range phone made for the youth. The handset is really simple looking with a candy bar design and QVGA 2 inch color display. Below the display and the navigational keys, there are circular tiny numeric keys. The design of the keypad isn’t the most attractive one I have ever seen to take but it is certainly useful. Sony Ericsson K660i is 15mm thick and this thickness is a bit more than standard especially considering that it not a high end phone. On the phone’s left side, there is M2 memory slot through which you can easily swap memory and on the bottom, there is a single proprietary port for headphones and charging. The manufacturer has bundled a 256 MB memory card along with the device for loading songs and videos. Sony Ericsson K660i comes with nice Web-based features. On the numeric pad’s right, there are 4 buttons for search entry, bookmarks, page zooming and shortcut for ‘Fun and Downloads’  [...]

Sony Ericsson W350i – no WMA support

thumbnail
Sony Ericsson W350i is an entry level Walkman phone having a retro look and candy bar form factor. The phone looks retro thanks to the flip design of the phone which is seldom seen these days. Inside, there is a glossy keypad which is easy to use and has a smooth and fairly large buttons. When you close the phone, the keypad is concealed and the exterior has dedicated buttons for the Walkman which makes the device look a lot like Sony MP3 player. The flip panel design of the Sony Ericsson W350i is good but I thought it was a bit flimsy because it bent easily when I tried to twist it. Maybe it is because the of the slim profile of the phone; it is just 11 mm thick. Apart from this, the phone is reasonably rugged and will certainly survive accidental drops. Sony Ericsson W350i is a nice phone to use too, it is lightweight, ergonomic and has an attractive finish. The screen is small and has a 176x220 pixels resolution.  [...]

Sony Ericsson K800i – For the youth

thumbnail
Sony Ericsson K800i is a simple candy bar phone that is rectangular in shape and looks stylish and sleek. The black and gray color scheme reflects a lot of high end features inside. It is not really compact at 4.1 inches by 1.9 inches by 0.9 inches but the solid construction feels very comfortable in the hand and the 4.1 ounces weight too won’t bother you much. Sony Ericsson K800i has a two inch (diagonal) display with support for 262k colors and resolution of 240x320 pixels. Underneath the display, you have the navigation array which is pretty similar to its predecessor, the K790a. The five way joystick can be used as shortcut for any of the four features of your choice and the two soft buttons are used for opening the main menu and recent calls list when the device is put in standby mode. Also, there are dedicated Clear and Back buttons, a button which launches the Web browser and a cool control which opens up a list of user defined shortcuts.  [...]

Sony Ericsson Satio with a 12.1 MP camera!

thumbnail
This phone was presented as a concept in Mobile World Congress and we are glad it has turned in to a reality now. This device is offered unlocked and it is billed as an entertainment cell phone. The 12.1 megapixel camera is really powerful and we have never seen such advanced photo editing options on any other camera phone. The standard music player is also there for listening to music. In terms of design, this phone has a lot in common with other high end smartphones. We were stunned by the camera options but the picture quality was quite inconsistent. Also, another disappointing feature is that the gadget has a proprietary port for headphones and power adapter. We would have liked a standard 3.5 mm headphone jack for plugging in any standard headphones. This is an excellent multimedia phone but the high price tag of $649 is certainly a turn off. True, you get a lot of camera options but a digi-cam gives you all this for relatively low price. Hence, we won’t recommend purchasing this  [...]

Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 – need a speedy 3G carrier

thumbnail
Most of the cell manufacturers are adopting Google Android as their mobile operating system. Now, Sony Ericsson has released its first Android smartphone – the Xperia X10. It features large, sharp and gorgeous display, excellent multimedia features, easy-to-use interface, and virtual keyboard. However, the onscreen keyboard does not work in all applications. The Timescape application is very useful, but has a complicated interface. The X10 provides good call quality and fast internal speed. On the contrary, Timescape updates do not complete successfully and data connection strength is variable. We hope that these issues are due to the carrier and other service provider may fix these issues. You can purchase the unlocked version of Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 for $700. You may have to use third party application for synchronizing Outlook calendar. If you can afford an expensive price tag for a fast and good looking smartphone and can get an U.S. 3G carrier to overcome above problem, then  [...]

Sony Ericsson Xperia X1 review – extensive price tag without any U.S. carrier backing

thumbnail
Sony Ericsson Xperia X1 is the first Sony phone to release with Windows Mobile 6.1. It is a luxury smartphone with solid construction and extensive price tag. We appreciate the Sony Ericsson to work perfectly on hardware to provide a wow factor to the Xperia X1, but it works like other Windows Mobile devices. It features slide-out QWERTY keyboard, optical joystick, various multimedia features and easy-to-use panel interface. There are standard seven panels and you can download more from Sony Ericsson download site. Its unlocked version costs $799.99 and available at Sony Style stores. We are disappointed that currently no U.S. carrier is supporting the Xperia X1. Its navigation array is a bit difficult to use and Sony need to focus on Web browsing. The Xperia X1 supports 850/1900/2100 UMTS/HSDPA bands, which means it fully operates with AT&T SIM in the United States. On the contrary, the X1 only works for calling and Web surfing at T-Mobile with EDGE because its  3G network runs on  [...]

thumbnail
Sony Ericsson Naite is an eco-friendly cell phone that is a part of GreenHeart series – a Sony initiative. The GreenHeart is a result of company’s commitment towards protecting the nature by making cell phones from recycled and unwanted materials. The Naite is made using recycled plastic and contains Energy Star V compatible charger. Unlike other eco-friendly phones, its container box is not made up of recycled cardboard. However, the box is small in size and uses less cardboard. The standby mode of the Naite consumes very less power. The Ericsson Naite offers bright and sharp display, easy menu navigation, FM radio, 2-megapixel camera, video recorder, video calling, photo/video editor, and Google Maps. There are two versions of the Ericsson Naite – unlocked and other for T-Mobile. The unlocked version of Sony Naite costs $150. This eco-friendly cell phone also suffers from some drawbacks.
