Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc – Stunning and Slim

thumbnail
There arent many handsets available in the current mobile market that are as attractive as the all new Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc, and with its super skinny and stunning looks the Xperia Arc is all set to turn quite a number of heads in market. This trendy offering from Sony measures a meager 0.46 in wide at its thinnest point, which is the center concave arc of the handset that runs upright down at the rear end of the phone. The slimness of the Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc could be estimated from the fact that if you run this handset in comparison with the iPhone 3GS, the iPhone will clearly look obese. Slimness plays a significant role in the success of any handset and the simple reason for that being the fact that it minimizes the bunglesome Visible Phone Line that is exposed in your pocket. But taking into account that most of the smartphones  [...]

Sony Ericsson Xperia Play – For Die Hard Gaming Fanatics

thumbnail
The entrance of Sony Ericsson Xperia Play in the market will be an announcement of a big on-the-house party for the gaming fanatics, and if you are one, then we are sure you must be thrilled about it. But if you are parents of gaming fanatic kids then you better lock your little gamer. And, though the world is going towards smaller and sleek handsets, we think that for the Xperia Play, bigger is better. The Sony Ericsson Xperia Play looks a as a fat and short sibling of Sony Ericsson’s graceful Xperia Arc, which Sony proclaimed as the “thinnest” smartphone in the world. The Experia Plya is 0.62 in thicker, and that makes it a tad more bulky than the other devices of the Xperia-line family. The bulkiness of the Sony Ericsson Xperia Play becomes understandable when you understand that the phone also comes with a PlayStation controller, and that’s why we were expectant of some swapping in size. And if you are gaming crazy then you definitely will  [...]

Sony Ericsson C702 – Rugged Phone For Masses

thumbnail
The Sony Ericsson C702 is a simple, yet impressive phone and will say that the phone comes with plethora of things to like. Though, the Cyber-shot camera of the phone is not one of the things that will impress you. People looking for a rough-n-tough mobile phone will surely appreciate this compact and appealing option from Sony Ericsson. Design: The initial images of the Sony Ericsson C702 defied with the rugged nature of the phone with a very teeny-bopper sweetie blue externals. But the review unit that we got was in total contradiction with what the images suggested and the Sony Ericsson C702 came with a black rubber, non-slip bottom half paired with a lusterless metal look plastic on the top, with all the trimmings fittings available in limited color palette. In short we will say that our C702 looks pretty  [...]

Sony Ericsson W980i – For music fans

thumbnail
Sony Ericsson W980i might not look attractive to you but for me, it is quite delicious. The square sharp design and the black glossy case makes the latest Walkman look more like dark choclate Tim Tam instead of a future mobile phone. Below the flip, I found a clash of the modern eras, QVGA resolution color pf the phones are put against retro feel, circular, art deco inspired, numeric keys. I showed this gadget to some of my friends and they were pretty impressed by the design. Keys on the Sony Ericsson W980i are spaced evenly and they are located on the bottom half of the phone. Above them, there are the navigation keys. I have often complained about cell phone having keypads that are too small for comfortable use. But this keypad isn’t one of those but you will have to change the way you hold the phone too often in order to reach the bottom and top keys. One impressive feature on the Sony Ericsson W980i is secondary OLED screen located on the front.  [...]

Sony Ericsson C 905 – Awesome photo quality

thumbnail
Sony Ericsson is known for making some of the best camera centric phones in the market and hence I expected a lot from the Sony Ericsson C 905 when it turned up in my labs for review. The manufacturer says that this phone is made as a camera replacement instead of just another camera phone and hence this handset has plenty to live up to. Sony Ericsson C 905 is offered for free on monthly contract of about £30 to £35 per month. Some phone makers say that they want to make their camera phones look more like phones and less like camera but Sony Ericsson has taken a different route here and this phone has been made to look more like a camera. You might think that this handset is too large. I thought so too but after testing the phone for a while, I realized that the size is very useful while talking photos. You can hold  [...]

Sony Ericsson Z530i – cool clamshell phone

thumbnail
Sony Ericsson Z530i is an updated version of Sony Ericsson Z520i. Both the cell phones have the same design along with loop aerial. The specifications too are quite similar on both the phones. But on the new version the manufacturer has given an expandable memory slot and new keypad. I wasn’t really convinced by the fish scale keypad design but the increased storage space is great news. Sony Ericsson Z530i is offered for free if you sign a service agreement from Vodafone, O2 and Carphone Warehouse. On the front, the Sony Ericsson Z530i has monochrome orange screen which shows you the battery life, time and date, signal strength, incoming calls or messages, and the track time and title of the song. The display is surrounded by silver reflective border and it features the company logo and the phone model name. Above the display, there is a 0.3 megapixel camera along with portrait mirror. The rest of front section is made up of rubber  [...]

Sony Ericsson W660i Walkman – Available in two colors

thumbnail
Sony Ericsson W660i is a Walkman phone from this company and this handset focuses more on design as compared to other Walkman phones. This handset is available in two color options – Rose Red and Record Black. One thing worth noting here is that the actual color of the former is 2 shades lighter than what the pictures in the advertisements say. Manufacturers are increasingly trying to put all possible features in every corner of the phone but Sony Ericsson stays aloof from this trend. You won’t find any groovy sliders or swiveling tricks here and this is the reason why I really liked the phone. Sony Ericsson W660i numeric keypad is quite similar to Cyber-shot K800i and there are more grooves which make it easy to type on. The main controls on this phone are  [...]

Sony Ericsson Z600 – Camera quality could have been better

thumbnail
Sony Ericsson Z600 has a clamshell form factor and this is a dramatic change for people who were fans of the T610’s design. I reviewed the Sony Ericsson T610 before this and was really amazed to see that the manufacturer had managed to pack in so many features in such a small chassis. Sony Ericsson Z600 is not really broad at 48 mm and not really long at 90 mm. But a weight of 110 grams certainly makes it a bit bulk. I was also concerned about the thickness of the phone at 28mm. Compared to this, the Samsung V200 and Panasonic GD88 (both having clamshell designs) are just 23 mm thick. The exterior design of this phone is different from other folding type phones. On the top of the lid, there is a tiny LCD panel along with the camera lens. There is a lot of blank gap between the screen and camera. This chassis sports interchangeable covers. The device is well made and doesn’t have that cheap plasticky feeling. The weight is distributed evenly between the  [...]
