Wireless phones review – LG Apex (U.S. Cellular)

thumbnail
Compared to the other wireless phones having slider QWERTY interface like Samsung Epic 4G and T-Mobile G2, the Apex is quite compact. It is 0.62 inch thick, 2.22 inches wide, 4.57 inches high and the weight is about 5.4 ounces. This handset is not as wide as other wireless phones and hence it feels more comfortable to hold in the hand. Also, the LG Apex is far from a thin phone but I could still easily put it in my pants pocket without any problems. The cell phone is well constructed and on the back, there is a soft touch nice finish. The trade-off on the trim design of such wireless phones is the small display. LG Apex US Cellular has just a 3.2 inch capacitive touch screen as compared to the 4 inch and 3.7 inch screens of Epic 4G and G2 respectively. On the bright side, the screen supports 242,000 colors and it has a resolution of 800x480 pixels. The screen is very bright and crisp so I don’t think that  [...]

thumbnail
LG KF 755 is a trimmed down model of the earlier LF KF750. This phone supports tri-band GSM  networks and there is no HSDPA support. There is no 3G support on this phone. Apart from the HSDPA support, the LG KF 755 and LG KF 750 are quite similar. The two Secrets share the same design and they made up of innovative materials like carbon and tempered glass. LG KF 755 is made for fashion enthusiasts and it does a great job of combining timeless elegance and elegant design. The interface of LG KF 755 is user friendly and very convenient. There are some welcome new features on the applications. The display supports a touch screen interface and there are plenty of multimedia features inside the phone. There is neon backlighting for the touch based navigation buttons which light up instantly to the user commands and it is accompany with a set of blue bright light effects which look really cool. LG KS660 review – For both multimedia and business users

thumbnail
LG KS660 is the first dual SIM phone from this manufacturer and it is recommended if you carry two separate SIM cards for office and personal use. Get this phone and you will have one less cellphone to carry around. I have tested some dual SIM phones in the past and the two card interface does seem confusing initially. But don’t panic, because after some time, you will get used to it. LG KS660 has a three inch WQVGA display with a resolution of 400x240 pixels. It has a touch screen display and in my testing, the screen was responsive enough and there weren’t any lag issues. The screen isn’t readable in bright sunlight but this issue is seen in a lot of phones. The handset is 105 x 55 x 14.9 millimeters and it fits very comfortably in any pants pocket. At 115 grams weight, it is not too heavy either. The biggest feature of the phone is the five megapixel camera which takes good quality photos. The highest resolution that you get here is 2592x1944  [...]

LG Octane – Good keyboard

thumbnail
LG Octane aka LG EnV 4 is a business phone made for people who message a lot. The internal display 2.6 inches big with 320x240 pixels resolution and the screen supports 262,000 colors. The text is quite sharp and the graphics too are vibrant with good color. The manufacturer has used animated bold icons which give the phone a great touch. There are stereo speakers located on both the sides of the screen. On the keyboard side of LG Octane, there are 2 soft keys located below the display. Underneath this, there is a full QWERTY keyboard made up of four rows and the top row is reserved for just numbers. I found this keyboard comfortable and roomy to use. There are subtle curves on both the sides of this keyboard which can be used to resting your thumbs. The keys are well-spaced and well raised. You get a satisfying click when the buttons are pressed and it gives a good feeling while typing. I also liked that Space bar is positioned in the middle; it doubles up as voice  [...]

LG Vu Plus – Full featured messaging phone

thumbnail
LG Vu was launched some time ago and it was one of the first phone to come with AT&T's live mobile TV service. The gorgeous three inch screen made watching videos fun but we didn't like the antenna sticking out for the TV signal. The design issues have been taken care of now, the antenna has disappeared on the predecessor – LG Vu Plus. The mobile TV service is still there and this phone now has a slide out QWERTY keyboard. The camera too is upgraded along with HSDPA/3G speeds. This device will cost you $149.99 and you have to sign a two year contract with the service provider. The display is 3 inches big and it is capacitive one so you will have an iPhone like experience on it. You get a 240x400 pixels resolution along with 262k color support. Our only gripe is that the display has a plastic surface instead of sturdier glass material which is seen in quite a lot of phones. The phone gives haptic feedback to your touches. You can change the intensity and length of  [...]

LG Imprint MN240 – Sleek looks

thumbnail
LG Imprint MN240 looks a lot like Kin One with regards to design. Just like LG Remarq, the Imprint has a leaf shaped speaker on the back and the handset's charger too is Energy star rated. MetroPCS, the service provider is not advertising this handset as an eco friendly product. May be that is because Imprint doesn't have soy ink packaging (unlike the Remarq) and the body is not made up of recycled plastic either. The phone has an appealing design and it will certainly go well with youngsters. They always yearn for a compact phone which can be easily placed in to their jeans pocket. Another thing that we liked about the phone was the spacious QWERTY keyboard which makes typing easy. If you are the kind of person who types a lot on cellphones then we will recommend you this handset. Other than that, the LG Imprint also has a music player for listening to tracks while on the move. However, we expected a 3.5 mm headphones jack since it would have let us plug in any standard headphones in to  [...]

LG Remarq – Slick messaging phone

thumbnail
LG Remarq is following the footprints of many cell phone manufacturers who are going green. We first got to see this cell phone at CTIA 2010. It is a messaging phone having a sliding layout and is made up of 19 percent plastic. Apart from that, 87% of its part can be recycled if you want to get rid of it. The manufacturer also says that this handset has low levels of polyvinyl chloride and the brominated flame retardants. The cardboard packaging of this phone is made of recycled material as well. Even the charger of the phone is energy efficient (it comes with Energy Star certification) and people who are sympathetic to mother Earth will drool at all these offerings. The eco friendly features aside, this message centric phone is quite impressive. There is no high-speed EV-DO but you get a 1.3 megapixel camera, microSD card, music player, and speaker phone. There is also quick access to the social networking sites like MySpace, Twitter and Facebook. The phone has a square design and its  [...]

LG Fathom (Verizon Wireless) – Solid construction

thumbnail
Microsoft has already announced the release of Windows 7 but it is still manufacturing Windows 6.5 phones aggressively. The latest example of this is LG Fathom. It run on Windows 6.5.3 and is one of the few smartphones from Verizon Wireless to have CDMA/GSM dual chipsets. You can put in an international SIM card when you are traveling out of US. We weren’t that impressed with the resistive touch screen but the slide out QWERTY keyboard is quite good. The phone has some good features and we are really tempted by this phone even though there is Windows 7 lurking around. This handset is available for $149.99 and you have to sign a two year contract after $100 mail in rebate. We also liked the solid construction of the handset. The QWERTY keyboard is quite roomy and the display too is bright. Other goodies on the device include Wi-Fi, GPS and Bluetooth. On the flipside, performance of the phone was a bit sluggish, especially with the accelerometer. The handset, as a whole, is quite bulky  [...]
