Sony Ericsson Xperia X1 review – extensive price tag without any U.S. carrier backing

thumbnail
Sony Ericsson Xperia X1 is the first Sony phone to release with Windows Mobile 6.1. It is a luxury smartphone with solid construction and extensive price tag. We appreciate the Sony Ericsson to work perfectly on hardware to provide a wow factor to the Xperia X1, but it works like other Windows Mobile devices. It features slide-out QWERTY keyboard, optical joystick, various multimedia features and easy-to-use panel interface. There are standard seven panels and you can download more from Sony Ericsson download site. Its unlocked version costs $799.99 and available at Sony Style stores. We are disappointed that currently no U.S. carrier is supporting the Xperia X1. Its navigation array is a bit difficult to use and Sony need to focus on Web browsing. The Xperia X1 supports 850/1900/2100 UMTS/HSDPA bands, which means it fully operates with AT&T SIM in the United States. On the contrary, the X1 only works for calling and Web surfing at T-Mobile with EDGE because its  3G network runs on  [...]

Sony Ericsson Naite – Eco-phone with plenty of multimedia features

thumbnail
Sony Ericsson Naite is an eco-friendly cell phone that is a part of GreenHeart series – a Sony initiative. The GreenHeart is a result of company’s commitment towards protecting the nature by making cell phones from recycled and unwanted materials. The Naite is made using recycled plastic and contains Energy Star V compatible charger. Unlike other eco-friendly phones, its container box is not made up of recycled cardboard. However, the box is small in size and uses less cardboard. The standby mode of the Naite consumes very less power. Palm Pixi Plus review – revamped Pixi, a Mobile Wireless Router

thumbnail
With Pre Plus, the Palm Pixi Plus was announced at CES 2010 to launch from Verizon Wireless. Like original Pixi from Sprint, the Pixi Plus offers inbuilt Wi-Fi, full QWERTY keyboard and 2.63 inches multi-touch screen. Unlike Palm Pre Plus, it does not have several enhancements and upgrades over its counterpart.  We appreciate that Verizon Wireless and Palm had joined hands to bring mobile wireless router application in Pixi Plus. However, you will get better browser and multi-touch screen as compared to another entry-level – RIM BlackBerry Curve 8530. The Pixi Plus costs $99.99 with two-year contract from Verizon Wireless after mail-in rebate of $100. Obviously, you have to pay additionally for data and voice plans as well as for mobile hot spot feature. Palm Pixi Plus will be the best choice for fresh and entry-level users. Samsung Propel Pro review – A messaging smartphone

thumbnail
Samsung Propel Pro comes with AT&T service, it has a full QWERTY keyboard and has a slider interface. From the looks, you will easily make out that this is a business smartphone. The handset costs $149.99 and you are bound by a 2 year service agreement. It comes with three megapixel camera which can take good photos and the call quality is impressive too. We were surprised to see that the phone lasted much longer than the rated talk time when we tested it in our labs. It doesn’t have the best design though; the phone is thicker than other smartphones like Nokia E71x and Samsung Epix. A thick phone looks a bit boring and you will easily feel the extra flab when you put it in your pocket. The display isn’t touch screen based, you will have to use the slider keyboard and the navigation buttons instead. A non-touch screen smartphone is rare in market these days and we wonder why Samsung did this. On the bright side, the keys are comfortable to use with their large design.
